Unspinning the NY Times (for silat)
« on: August 25, 2005, 10:49:24 AM »
The Left wing radical news seems to have their facts wrong or they have an agenda, you decide.

===================================

Read the entire article please !

Story from the JWR

Colonel Thomas Spoehr is annoyed with New York Times reporter Michael Moss, for what I think is a good reason.

Spoehr is the director of materiel for the Army staff. He had a good news story to tell Moss, which Moss converted into a bad news story.
-------------------
Yet though the specifications weren't set until early in January, new plates were being manufactured — and delivery begun to U.S. troops — in March. Those familiar with the Pentagon's procurement process recognize this as lightning speed.

LOL check out the correction.  I see missing a 0 is important, but the facts are not a big deal.

Story from the NYT

"For the second time since the Iraq war began, the Pentagon is struggling to replace body armor that is failing to protect American troops from the most lethal attacks of insurgents.

Kos jumping on the bad wagon

Kos blog

Not only was there no planning, and the insurgency misunderestimated, the latest incompetence story must be filed in the WTF category.  The NY Times just reported that the improved body armor needed by the troops in Iraq since 2003 has not been delivered in the amounts needed and it will still be several months before our soldiers and Marines are properly protected.

On another front, and sure to raise even more questions, a New York Times front page story today by Michael Moss reveals: “For the second time since the Iraq war began, the Pentagon is struggling to replace body armor that is failing to protect American troops from the most lethal attacks by insurgents.

“The ceramic plates in vests worn by most personnel cannot withstand certain munitions the insurgents use. But more than a year after military officials initiated an effort to replace the armor with thicker, more resistant plates, tens of thousands of soldiers are still without the stronger protection because of a string of delays in the Pentagon's procurement system.”

more pushing

"For the second time since the Iraq war began, the Pentagon is struggling to replace body armor that is failing to protect American troops from the most lethal attacks by insurgents."

Scandalous incompetence? Appalling indifference? Try both. Who cares? This is a war fought mostly by other people's children. The loudest of the hawks are the least likely to send their sons or daughters off to Iraq.

and more

I could pop links all day to the rags that have jumped on this bandwagon (Muarren dowd) but why waste time, I doubt the Leftwing radicals will read anything but the headlines :)

An extreamist is anyone who wil cling to their ideology/opinion even when the facts imperically show that they are wrong.

You have given us several examples of the extreamist among us.

Thank you.

the ny times has an extreme liberal agenda...  like all liberals they feel that their agenda is far more important than mere truth...  If truth get's in the way of higher ideals.... well... truth has got to go.

Laz,

You don't get it.

You have to stop placing a value judgement on the construct called "truth". Your adherence to an out dated modality of morality limits you from ever achieving the goal of the greater good for the masses or the ideology. Truth has no place in our modern culture because reality is a commodity that can be influenced in so many creative ways.

Now sit back and allow those who know better the oportunity to help us become more enlightened from our dreiry monoconstruct, monolithic, limited life styles. Truth is so limiting in its affect upon our ability to fully experience the wonders of life. After all, isn't it better to manipulate reality so that everyone gets a peice of their own truth and no one goes away unfufilled and unhappy?

Is your truth my truth? And the NY Times is after all staffed with some of this cultures brightest lights when it comes to seeing the truth in the darkness of social injustice.................... ...
