I understand what you are talking about, in the heat of the moment the mod's comments can seem almost like a personal attack unto itself. But, the alternative is simply a message, "You have been muted for ten minutes", with no explanation whatsoever. That would stick in people's craws just as much or more than their lil' comment I'd wager.

Personally, I prefer the occasionally snide remark from the mod that lets me know what it was specifically that incurred the mute bat to the other option, a mute with no explanation at all. It's the lesser of two evils. In most instances emotions are high when the verbal fur is flying and no matter what the mod said a person is apt to be miffed when in that frame of mind. Obviously, a mod should make an effort to be as diplomatic as possible, but it is likely not always possible when applying the mute bat.

Badcow, there is a bot who singles out bad words, that is why people have taken to add their little * and 0's in their words to fool the bot. There is where the Mods come into play (and are needed). Also, there are far more ways to use profanity then to say bad words.

The other day on knit team there was a guy screaming out profainty and then got muted for 10. Unfortunatly he didn't give a damn once he was unmuted. Unfortunatly again the mod had obviously left again and there was noone to mute him again. Mods are needed. Maybe more of them then there are now.

I would suggest emailing HT about this issue. He is able to review logs and such to determine what precipitated you getting muted as well as the Mod's remark to you. I'm sure if he thinks there was something inappropriate in this particular instance he will rectify the situation. I would encourage you from letting one negative experience or facet of the game remove you from the game and the community. For $15 a month this is the best entertainment for your dollar if you are an enthusiast of the subject. Just know there are other recourses besides simply quitting altogether. Try emailing HT, you may end up making things better for not only yourself but the rest of us as well, who knows...

WEll, had I been a Mod and you would have called me Speech nazi I would have muted you right away, no warning and for more then 10 minutes. Unaccatpable IMO.

However, and unfortunatly, I believe there are mods who mute some people they might not like if those people say even the slightest bad thing. Remember being muted my self even though I just arrived in the arena after saying hello on open channel. Was surprised to say the least.

This is very rare though and the majority of the moderators are good guys and usually give you a warning first.

Second, Mods are players. Not HTC staff so the you're not really the moderators customer.
