Just got a Saitek X45 and for some reason when in a GV I cannot fire any of the guns.  I've made sure that the correct buttons are mapped but cannot fire.

Any ideas?

a way to check your buttons is to open up the text box and then push the button/trigger you have the command mapped to. The keystroke should be visible in the text box..

What is "the text box"?  In AH?  The radio bar?

Yeah, if you're using macros in the X45 software.

If you're using the AH Stick Map, make sure it is set to Fire Position and Fire Secondary in GUNNER keys.
