So there are bombers that are more durable/better guns.
Bombers with bigger bomb load.
Bombers that are faster.
But are there any bombers that are as good at all 3?
Think about the arguments you guys have posted NOT to perk it.
"It blows up like a Christmas tree..." if you can get close enough to hit it. Ooooh those .50s are nasty things at long range. And at high alt, most fighters will have a tough time catching it.
"The B-26 is faster..." but doesn't have the bomb load and hi-alt capability.
"The B-17 is more durable..." but doesn't have the bomb load and speed.
"The Lancaster has a bigger bombload" ... but doesn't have the .50s either.
The F4UC isn't any faster than a regular Corsair... but its perked because of its guns.
The Ta-152 doesn't pack a bigger punch than a Dora... but its perked because its faster.
The Spit Mk XIV isn't any more durable than a Spit IX... but its perked because its faster.
When you look at the package the B-24 offers; the combo of .50s, bomb load, speed, and hi-alt capability, is there any bomber that's better?
I don't recall many WW2 mission planners saying "and after you release your load, just go into a shallow dive to 400 ias, then level and maintain until you reach base..." The B-24 is being abused, muy gamey.
