An interesting statement given the following:

Quote
"In sum, a strategy must recognize what is possible. In climate research and modeling, we should recognize that we are dealing with a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore that the prediction of a specific future climate state is not possible." -- Final chapter, Draft TAR 2000 (Third Assessment Report), IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

Global climate change due to fossil CO2 emission has become fact not because of sound science but because of the collective thought that we must follow scant data and theory because it may be right.

The possibilities of global temperature fluctuations due to solar radiation fluctuation during solar cycles, the fossilized record of higher atmospheric CO2 levels, the non correlated data of prehistoric CO2 vs global temperature, all fail to stop the bad science involved in saying the case for fossil CO2 is open and shut.

Without much warning a tsunami kills perhaps half a million people and completely devastates some of the poorest countries in the world.

A hurricane kills a couple of hundred people that were given ample warning and time to leave the area in the richest country on the planet.

How many people have to die before we are supposed to care?

Geez, Hajo, give it a minute. It takes a little time for organization, but I understand where you are coming from.

That famous female actor, the one in Miss Congeniality, donated one million dollars to the Tsunami victims, which was admirable, although it was done in a very public way.

I just wondered if this Katrina tradgedy puts her in a quandry...  does she donate another million to the Gulf Coast?  I'd love to see Hollywood get together and see what they can do to help as an industry...

Almost a thousand people were trampled to death in Baghdad today. Where's the outpouring of sympathy for them?

Almost a thousand people die in a horrible accident in another country, and you can't even be bothered by it. Yet you expect other people to fall over themselves in trying to help us? Wake up and smell the BS.

The US alone....private citizens out paced, overshadowed the monitary help to the tsuanami effected area from any country, matter of fact the total of many countries.

Heres a couple of points to think over:
First I suggest you hop on a plane, take a quick tour of Sri Lanka, Indonesia (the area affected), and toejamet When you have, come back and tell me how you suggest people who live a day at a time should pour $$$ into the US?

Second, I suggest you look at the time it takes $$$ to get from country A to country B.

Third, I suggest you ring up the International Red Cross, and several other charities, and ask them for any information they have on international donations from private citizens around the world to previous disasters in the USA, particularly those in Florida.

You are showing a huge amount of ignorance, particular that ignorance which stereotypes some countries view of the US.

"Without much warning a tsunami kills perhaps half a million people and completely devastates some of the poorest countries in the world."

And as I recall the largest single contributor for releif was the USA.

"Almost a thousand people die in a horrible accident in another country, and you can't even be bothered by it."

Who says he isnt bothered by it? and I didnt see you make a single post on the topic, maybe point me to the thread you started, I must have missed it.

"A hurricane kills a couple of hundred people that were given ample warning and time to leave the area in the richest country on the planet."

I guess they have no right to be concerned over deaths in their own country, perhaps they should apologise?

You and I and anyone can care whenever we like, but I'm not going to demand that people from halfway around the world do the same, even if I've given money to charity. When I give money to charity there are no strings attached.
