ENY limiter idea.
« on: September 03, 2005, 01:18:22 AM »
First fuzeman has been thinking...   DUCK !!!

I had an idea regarding ENY values and the limiter and perk points, combine them into one value. Have the regular plane set start at 0 and go down with a negative number and add the perk planes at 0 and go up with a positive number. Planes above the 0 cost that many points and planes below it are available. As the numbers on a side change the zero line would move up or down changing the relative value of the planes.
To clarify here's an example with just a few planes using made up ENY values and Perk value.
  • Me 262 Swallow   200
  • Spitfire Mk XIV   20
  • Spitfire Mk IX   0
  • Spitfire Mk V   -10
  • Seafire   -20
  • Spitfire Mk I   -30

That would be the value when the arena is balanced. The Spit14 and Me262 would require perks and the others would not.

OK, now the fun starts. A side gets out numbered and the usual thing happens, their perk planes get cheaper. Another thing that happens is the negative value of the other rides goes lower, so they would earn even more points flying a plane with a 'high ENY value' of the present system.
The numbers might look like this.
  • Me 262 Swallow   200-30=   170
  • Spitfire Mk XIV   20-30=   -10
  • Spitfire Mk IX   0-30=   -30
  • Spitfire Mk V   -10-30=   -40
  • Seafire   -20-30=   -50
  • Spitfire Mk I   -30-30=   -60

Now the only perk ride is the Me262 and all other planes are free.

And now the final example when a side has a numerical advantage. As usual perk planes get more expensive but now notice some of the usual free rides cost points to fly. They are not unavailabe as in the present system. Also the points scored would be lower as their numbers increased.
This is how it would look.
  • Me 262 Swallow   200+30=   230
  • Spitfire Mk XIV   20+30=   50
  • Spitfire Mk IX   0+30=   30
  • Spitfire Mk V   -10+30=   20
  • Seafire   -20+30=   10
  • Spitfire Mk I   -30+30=   0

Now every plane costs something except the SpitI

It solves some of the current complaints about not being able to fly the plane they want to. Not all of them of course. People with limited accumulated perks would not be able to fly some as the relative cost of planes on their side rose. What do ya think? Any merit to my cranial cogitations?

Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Well this is pretty close to my suggestions. I suggested a scoring system that would tie eny values AND rank to score (i.e. the higher you rank the less points you get for low eny). This would force the people who want to rank high, fly early war planes due to the fact that late war planes would not benefit their ranking at all (if they flew the large country that is).

We would see the veteran players using their skill in early war planes in order to get large points against late war planes in the country with small numbers.

When the imbalance would be large enough, people would surely switch in order to fly late war planes and automatically balancing the arena at the same time. OR they could choose to stay with early war planes and earn high score in every challenging kill they make.
