Question for download music gurus
« on: September 05, 2005, 09:19:24 PM »
Ok I downloaded Keane a while back - all legit, paid for and everything - it's mine legally.  It's on my laptop in WMA format and plays fine so when I get myself an IPod I try to transfer it in Itunes. But it won't do it - messages about security blah blah. Ok - try it to my Sandisk player - nope won't play.

So what do I have to do to convince these devices I have a license for these tracks ??

I think Ipods only take mp3's and mp4's (which I believe is the Itunes format).  Just convert the WMA into mp3 then try again.

Itunes should convert into the format it wants and it starts the process but halts with a message saying it the file is security protected.  Why doesn't it recognise it's a legit ...

Can you burn it to a CD?  If so, you can then rip it back onto your hard drive in mp3 format.

Burn it to a CD,

In the settings, make sure you burn it to MP3, not AAC or WMA

Pop in the CD and bring up I tunes.  On the right you will see the audio CD on the left.  Then Hit the "import"

That should do it

Actually, what iTunes says that this .wma is security protected that prevents them from converting to into a format iTunes can read.

The Ipod is overrated... I have a Creative Zen Micro and it works wonderfully
