Continuing my US cultural education....

wolfa.. I don't know if "in a while" means the same to us... In this case it would be a couple times yesterday...

Trying to paint kalifornia as a socialist haven is not really correct.   It is a very restrictive state and it is a very large state.  It also has a very long coastline and extremely good weather and subsequent high real estate prices.

I also believe that it is the most flagrant violator of constitutional rights.   Kalifornia will allways have good weather and expensive real estate and the movie industry but it's economy peaked a while back..  the more socialist it gets the worse the economy witll get.

I am glad that so many young and dumb couples will put up with the regulations and traffic and high real estate prices...  My property here just keeps going up...  When I sell and retire... I will be able to move somewhere with a little more elbow room and freedom and own my land free and clear with some left over...

Where will that be lazs...any idea yet?  Actually sounds pretty cool to be able to retire and own some land with "elbow room".

Could only be Montana.  That's where I would go.

why does every city twit in the world want to buy an RV and live in Montana? Even the Russian XO in 'Hunt for Red October'...

If I wuz a Montana native I'd hunt city slickers and Russian Traitors.

I don't like snow.   Other than that...

I like Texas and nevada and arizona... some parts of Idaho appeal..

I have thought of Oregon but the rain depresses me and... I have a feeling that it will be as bad as Kalifornia politicaly soon enough..

RV?  Na, it would be more like a small hut in the woods, with good fields of fire and tunnels into Canada.

"Well had a fantastic days racing. The Pit access is great and the crews freindly - F1 could learn a lesson here about fans. Good race with lots of place changing at the front"

Pretty much sounds like a description of any motorcycle race event from The Top level MotoGP down to a local club race. Give up on car racing sparks. When you get home go watch real racing on two wheels!

Once again SkyDancer knows best.  Here I was thinking that watching 3 hours of competitive racing from roaring V8's,walking round the pits on a sunny afternoon, seeing the whole track from a seat, using clean well stocked restrooms and going to and from the circuit in clean efficient charter train was somehow a good day out ! :(

When actually I could spend that same day standing on a muddy grass bank in the peeing rain watching 10 secs of bikes go past on the 200 yds of track I choose to watch, put my wellies on to go to the bathroom while taking a fresh copy of the Sun with me because there sure as hell won't be any toilet roll, and go back to my now blocked in car in a gress field and wait 2 hours to get out of the circuit.

Sky I've done my share of the UK circuits. Worked for 3 years on club level race cars (BRSCC etc) every summer weekend at every cicuit in the country (except Knockhill) - please don't try to educate me on the UK racing scene.

This was a light hearted look at my first experience of NASCAR live and that was all.  You insisted on bringing the "UK is better" theme into it and trust me - we lose on this one.  If we can ever get ASCAR in the media at places like Rockingham then maybe the UK motorsport industry will look up.

I find it so funny how ya'll are getting into NASCAR.  Next thing you know you'll be eating grits.  Never thought a non-Southerner would get into NASCAR.  But then again some people down here are getting into Hockey.
