Poll: Is B17 II worth the money?
« on: December 14, 2000, 01:43:00 AM »
Howdy all.  Just wanted to take a quick poll on whether or not you guys think B17 II is worth buying.  I'm deliberating on whether or not to buy it (it comes out tomorrow for me) so please, don't be shy and give me your honest opinions of it.

No. As a game it's quite nice but as a sim its not worth of money IMHO. I bought it, played it and got bored after one week.

Its like those new "home HiFi's": Lots of knobs, flashing lighths and levers but no soul or quality....

Flame on guys

Ok, one other thing.  If you guys don't recommend B-17 II, what sim will you recommend?  I have $40 of store credit from my local Software Ect. for returning that crappy Hitman game.  I would like some input on a good flight sim to play.

To me it didnt...Feel right, the way the planes acted the didnt feel like they were flying...its hard to describe but nayone who has played it knows what I mean.

i give it 2 stars of a possible 5,
If you can get it for free, get it, if not screw it.

Matti,
If you are a total prophead i would recommend Janes ww2 fighters, its awsome.

If you like jets, get Flanker2.0 it is the best jet game i have ever played in my life, its a riot shooting off that giant anti ship missle.

I'd wait for IL-2 to get out, 17 flyable planes and ít has been tested by rushian WW2 pilots.

In my opinion Janes WW2 fighters is one of the crappiest sims out there, bad view system, bad dammage model (though the effects look nice) and the FM is WAY porked.

Agreed with Wilbus.

Combat Mission is quite cool if you want a game that's already out.

And, believe it or not, I played Rune for the last few days (my joystick still isn't fixed). Quite cool game; being a Viking and slashing stuff to gibs is neato. Brings out the ancestors in me  .

Now I should go kill some French people.  .

IMO:
Janes WW2 Fighters was a waste of cash for me.
Nice eye candy, Everything else (almost) sucked. Horrible FM, Missions etc.
It was an expensive drink coaster after 1 day.

B17-2 is great for a crew managment/bomber sim.
but if you are looking for a FLIGHT-SIM then look elsewhere.

If they get that rumoured patch out for B17 II, then it might get whole lot better.

But those who just wants to kill kill and kill, I think that they better stay in AH

B17 II does not have multiplayer, but like that game needs one so badly...  (what would you do with multiplayer with couple planes?)

I say that B17 II divides opinions alot
If you wan't to bomb, have nice pretty graphics and sounds, it is nice game.
I love Me109 engine sound

Combat Mission is excellent
Been having a hoot with MW4 as well, since I can play without stick (still waitin on my X36)
Steel Beasts is also good as far as modern tank sims go.

steel beasts graphics are so outdated though (640x480 and no graphics acceleration)

Anyone else seen  12 O'clock High from TalonSoft?  I got it yesterday and spent 5 hours bombing Berlin.  I'm still reaching a conclusion about it tho......loadsa detail but, frankly, a mind numbingly boring action phase.

It's like, plan your raids and then go out for dinner....with luck the turn will be over when you return 3 hours later.

True, but it feels like it should. I did some time in M60A3's and it brings back some memories
