Corner Speed for Ki-84?
« on: September 06, 2005, 07:31:37 PM »
I have searched the forums and haven't found anything conclusive for AH2.  Does anyone know the optimal cornering speed for the AH2 modeled Ki-84?  Also, is the data on climb and speed accurate at http://www.netaces.org ?

Thanks!

I haven't got any info on the corner speed, but I do have the info on turn radius comparison.

Yup I have that great list printed already :)

I would really like to know the corner speed however.

I learned this from a Hitech post.  Launch.  Get up to speed.  Turn your aircraft to almost full blackout.  Keep turning.  The speed at which your stall buzzer is the loudest is your corner speed.

The data on the java charts is from the charts on the HTC site. I have tested the P-51 and Spit9 recently and found them to be within 1mph up to about 25k. That speaks well for them still being fairly accurate. They are not completely accurate, though.

Above 26k, the P-51 WEP adds no extra speed. This is not what the chart shows. What other differences there are I can't tell you right now but, when winter comes around and there's nothing to do outside, I will do some more testing!

Record it silat then watch film. Won't see blackouts on film and you will have the more accurate digital speed meter :)

Silat,

No need to worry about blackouts when you use the stall limiter.

I remember someone posting that another way to get stall speed at a given altitude is this:

Keep level flight at set altitude; gradually reduce speed, continuing to stay level with control inputs as needed. Note the speed at which you stall.

Multiply this by 1.6 and you have the corner speed.
