P-51B shading anomaly introduced?
« on: September 08, 2005, 11:14:16 PM »
In the new 2.05 patch we seem to have introduced the appearance of a large "dent" in the fuselage around the gear doors; note image:

Also note the shadow at at the midpoint of the lower fuselage, giving the impression of a depression in what should instead appear to be a protrusion.  This issue existed previously, unlike the "dent" above.

Noticed similar stuff on the wings of the Spit 5.  Shadow with a sharp edge about midway on each wing just before the Ailerons

Update Item: "Fixed some issues with the P-51B's gear being out of alignment."

Looks like they didn't "smooth" the polygons in that area of the 3D model.  They need to re-check the smoothing groups for those polygons.

Anyone have a comment on the large shadow aft of the belly radiator air intake (not sure if this is the correct name)?

This is a major visual issue on an otherwise fine 3-D model, and was there previously.  The underside of the nose may be kind of dark too, but I'm not sure.

Here's another anomaly, which was there before 2.05.  Note the square shaded area on the small tab (?) at the top of the rudder.  The port side of the rudder does not show this issue, and it appears to be independent of the position of the sun.
