Fighter Squadron (Flight Sim)
« on: July 20, 2000, 04:40:00 PM »
Sorry to bug you guys about a non Aces High game, but I've been taking a break from AH for a couple weeks now and I'm looking for another Sim to fill in my down time or Im going to go nuts.  Ive got EAW, Janes, etc..and they just dont do it for me.

I was wondering, have any of you guys tried Fighter Squadron?  Im looking for something that is hard and a challenge to fly offline.  The online stuff was getting the best of my time schedule and like any addict I had to take a break. hehee

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Try downloading OpenPLane planes or whatever they called. Heard they are good, but that's uncomfurmed - I never reinstalled the game to try them out.

I think EAW was about the best you could do for offline, solo WWII aricombat/flight simming. There are add-ons that may help increase the difficulty and your enkoyment. Go to combatsim.com (an EAW mecca)

Mx, the openplane function is unbelievable.  The flight physics in this game are very similar to AH.  Landings and takeoffs are more difficult and the gunning is more historically accurate, than in AH.  Damage modeling is awesome.

There are hundreds of missions out there, from the Rhineland, Africa, Dover and the Pacific.  All and all this is a great sim, with this feature.

I love flying 109E and 109F over Dover and in the desert.  The Sim without the openplane feature would have been way limited in missions. I agree with the review featured in May 2000, the future of flightsims will have the openplane feature.  I havent hooked up online with it yet.

Thanks Westy for the EAW plug.  Ive played it and it is a great sim.
