tremolo switch
« on: September 17, 2005, 03:31:26 PM »
Does anyone know if I could retrofit my Fender Strat with a tremeolo switch?  I have an EMG 81 on the bridge so I have 1 tone knob that has no use, so could I put it in there or would I have to reoute my body?  I really don't want to rip up the inside on the guitar much but hey.  If I couldn't fit it where the knob is could I put it somewhere near the bottom fromt of the guitar?

I could have sworn the Tremelo was the bar that was conected to the bridge, so you could distort the sound.

During his time in Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello used it on songs like Bullet in the Head.  Essentially it accelerates the pitch into overdrive make the sound squeel somewhat.  If you listen to bullet in the head you can hear the distinct squeeling i am talking about.  It does that for any pitch that is being played when you engage it though.

Mesa Boogie has it listed as a tremolo switch, not sure if that's what it is called though. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/mesa/fctrem.html  Looks like a pedal to me but Tom's is on his guitar, where the pitch lever would be I think.
