Im going to have to get one soon. I will be traveling alot and I still want to play AH. I was looking at the XPS from Dell. My question is do they have graphics cards? I didnt see it anywhere on the customize it list. Also anyone recomend a certain laptop for gameing? I will be living out of hotel rooms so Im guessing I will be gaming alot.

laptops have onboard graphics

but not all laptops are good for gaming, the only ones i can think of that would be good for gaming are AlienWare laptops

I think if you get a ATI 9700 mobile graphics or higher you will be able to play AH ok.

Dell XPS are good laptops, espeically those with Nvidia 6800 ultras. Cant go wrong with that

I picked up this one recently.

Toshiba M60-BK3

Intel Pentium M 750 @1.86 Ghz
512MB PC 4200 RAM
Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 with 128 megabytes of RAM
Toshiba ML1032GAS hard drive, 100 gigabytes 4,200 rpm
etc. etc.

Runs AH great @ 1440x900 (no AA/AF). runs good with (2XAA)
All in all, im very happy with graphics performance. (kinda wish i went for 6800 as it would have lasted me longer ).

Careful when choosing laptop vidcards.
Generally they're slower then desktop counterparts.
I almost picked one up with ATI mobility 9700, then realized its alcually half the speed of desktop 9700.

When buying gaming latop, its better to pay more for good videocard now, then forver be stuck with junk.

Check into Alienware -- although pricey, they've tried optimizing for gaming with their laptops. I played on an alienware laptop for my first year in AH, and was able to upgrade the video card (which is modular -- dont need to get a new laptop if card needs change).

Support's pretty good, although they push the envelope (including things like putting a desktop CPU into a laptop) which means they run into problems now and again.

I had to work with tech support several times, and like most tech support staffs teh first tier has very little idea about more complex issues. Had a problem with the internal fan on the video card, which caused erratic problems unpredictably, and I dont want to even think about how many hours and how many different people I shunted through before they figured it out and sent tech support out to the house...

Check out Clevo... in the past, they used to ship their laptop guts to Alienware and Alienware simply put their own case on it and charged an extra $800-900 for the 'special' name brand.

I believe they still make the Alienware laptops, and (after a quick look) they have a laptop that uses a ATI X800XT vid card

My clevo has never given me a problem, and I still enjoy it... heck, it can still run AH and it is going on 4 years old.
