Ex-WB pilots: have had problems cancelling account?
« on: July 22, 2000, 05:41:00 PM »
There must be ex-WB pilots here.

Have you had problems cancelling your account at IEN?

They've made it easy to create and modify accounts.  But cancelling...  No online option, only E-mail or phone/fax.

I've e-mailed them several times to no avail.  My account has not been cancelled, I'm still being charged.  E-mail has not bounced, though because of the wonderful Internet-mail system I cannot verify it has been received.

Next monday I have to contact my bank for advice to stop these charges.  Maybe I just have to cancel my credit-card   (costs me about 10 USD to get a new one).

Would Federal Trace Commission be an appropriate instance to complain or is it for US citizens only?

And thanks for AH/HTC for providing _all_ options in the online account maintenance mode - I mean the normal 'add, change, inquire and delete'

Actually I also phoned IEN and got very good service.  They agreed to refund my July charge (not June, though, see below). They asked me to copy and send them all previous Emails again - I did, using two different service providers this time.  Let's see what happens.

So, there is no problem with Warbirds / IEN account cancellation - except for E-mail (in my case) and that the fact they do not have an online  Web option to cancel accounts

I sent 3 E-mails to the correct address.  It seems none of them have been delivered - for whaever reason.  I have not had any previous problems with my E-mail and my ISP.

Also, their system showed some 11 hours of usage in June, even though I stopped playing 20th May.  Well, I've already paid that so I'll let it be.

<sigh> Should have called them the first time.  I still have this nagging feeling that calls to USA cost like 1-2 USD / minute.  The one I made was about 0,15 USD / minute.

But E-mail is so easy

Ympf - I was also stupid enough to assume that the billing period would be same as a month - it is not in WB.

So only question is, why did the E-mails get through?
