Nice Spitfire Scenes
« on: September 19, 2005, 03:24:37 PM »
Hi Mates

I realize that most of you young fighter jocks don't watch the same television as us old duds so you might have missed some very nice Spitfire scenes on PBS last night.

There is a series called "Foyl's War", story of a police inspector in Hastings, England in 1941.  His son is a pilot in the RAF.

They had a lot of airfield shots in the series last evening.  Take offs, landings, taxi and engine starts and shutdowns.  Planes looked like a MK V (or Seafire) and a MK IX.  Also a very nice tower buzz at the end.

A great opportunity for our players that make up sounds to get engine starts, fly-by and overall Merlin sound.

It is very distinctive.

Thought I was pass this along.

Keep the blue side up

If memory serves it's Spitfire VB BM597 and Spitfire VIII MV154 that were used in that show.

The Spit Vb is the one that is now painted blue for the Merlins over Malta trip.
