Okay so appearently my semi-diligent preparations were for nothing... Family meeting tonight to discuss our evac plan... Hotel rooms already booked in Dallas. We live near bayous that begin to flood into the neighborhoods during "normal" heavy rains, so staying is a bad idea. The good news is all we need to keep doing business is our cell phones, laptops, & a wifi hotspot so we won't lose business. Everything else is insured. I'll know for sure Thursday morning.

Well this sucks. I was supposed to get fitted for a tux on Friday and my best friend's wedding rehersal is on Monday. :furious

Hotels are booked throughout TX. Try Oklahoma or Arkansas if you're gonna get outta here. They're projecting Cat 4 by noon tommorrow, and it won't make landfall until Friday... and we're projected to be on the dirty side of the storm. We're leaving 3am Thursday morning. We've got enough to be completely self sufficient for 7 days (6 people & 6 dogs) for when we return. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

Good luck to ya, we're all gonna need it.

What part of Katy?  I am NW off 290 and Eldridge.  We are stocked and ready.  Not planning on leaving unless this thing gets way outta control.  Slightly concerned about the creek/bayou behind the house, but the neighbor who has lived here forever told me that they have never had a problem with flooding....even during Allison and that one was a ***** when it hit Houston a while back.

It got absolutely nuts in Algiers the last 2 days. You have three government offices policing the city and communication was bad. People who left for work couldn't get past checkpoints in Algiers to get home.  I watched a press conference yesterday, and I swear it reminded me of a military coupe. A reporter asked the Coast Guard general where the evacuees were being taken and his reply was "None of your business." :huh :rofl
