109 g2 or 10
« on: September 25, 2005, 08:10:49 PM »
I'm not "new to the game" but I mostly flew american planes the first months I was here.  I've flown the g10 for a while and liked it.. but dont really know any tactics to use with it... I'm ok with it... Also the g2.  I like how it gains alt easily and does'nt have bad guns either.  But tips on both would be appriciated.  :p

Well the G2 and G10 are pretty different. They're about as different as you can get for 109s. G10 has one of the top 5 best climb rates in the game (much more powerful engine) but is also much heavier and turns worse than the G2.

The G2 is one of the best 109s (I consider F4/G2 to be nearly identical) for turning. It is much lighter and far more agile, in that you can actually turnfight with it. That being said, gondolas really screw up its ability to turn fight, so don't take them.

Which leads me to guns. It does not have a good armament. 1x20mm with 150/200 rounds (depending on what you pick) does not last long. Save your ammo. Get in close. Kill. Get out.

Flying a 109G2 will teach you better gunnery or it will kill you :P

Ask yucca to show you some g10 flying.

The key is to know the handling so you can get it to flip around with the stall. Also use the engine power to dry the other guy out of energy then finish him when he hangs there with 100 mph and you have 200 and are above him.

single most usefull 109 tip i can think of:

When initiating immediate turns, cut your power right down low or off to start the turn, then open her out again, or not, depending on the move you're trying to do.

seems to me the 109 wont turn worth a penny at full power.

maybe its just me...
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I wouldn't consider extending enough to turn around and HO the guy a success.  If you have that much separation/E advantage on him it would have been a good time to try to lure him into a spiral rope.  Even if you go high and he doesnt bite you can use your advantage to position for an attack that doesn't put you in front of his guns as well.
