Good book. Very good pilot. Flew with Polish expat group out of england before US forces arrived in numbers -- thought they were fearless wildmen in the air.

Just forthe heck of it, he and Yeager buzzed switzerland and got away with it.

Got captured when he strafed an airfield and went    a   little  too  low, trashing his prop.

Excellent book, alot of it is devoted to his WW2 experiences, then it transitions into his life after the war and into Korea.

I rate it a double thumbs up :aok :aok

P.S. and yes Karaya, he's refering to Francis "Gabby" Gabreski ;)

My bad. I read teh two books back to back, and got 'em confused. Have to admit, while I was typing I was thinking "now wait a minute -- if he was captured, how was he around at the end to do the buzzing...

Course, my common sense was again shoved into the background by my need to humiliate myself!    :lol

I always wanted to know what Gabreski's opinion of R.S. Johnson was--I'm guessing many guys didnt care for him
