Spits, I have 1 problem
« on: September 21, 2005, 01:42:39 AM »
Hey everyone!

Well, as some of you know I've been playing 5 years, when I started in AH1 I started out in a P-51D squad called The Wildcards, okay squad mostly new guys at the time, but I learned in a BnZ style plane, then as I learned more and more about a year ago I started flying the seafire, well with as much as I knew about BnZ I found the spit to be better at that then TnB. But when I face a spit5 or seafire there is one thing it does that I don't beleave it should do in real life. When you auto climb without WEP you get between 2000-2400fpm with WEP about 3000fpm, not much at all, and it's a very light aircraft weighing in at only 5000-6000 Ibs. When I'm in a P-47 or P-38 (12,000Ibs +) and pull into the vertical a Spit will ALWAYS catch up! Now if I'm chasing a spit I can't catch up... I just don't get how the Spit hold E so well when it's so light! From what I know a P-47 in a high speed zoom should EASLY how climb most other aircraft let alone an earlier, underpowered and light weight spit. The only plane I seem to be able to easily down a spit in is a Ki-84 well using the vertical, basicly nothing can match so I've become acustom to using. But because of the amount of spits flying, I feel I almost have to fly a dedacated turner or a Ki-84 Otherwise the Spit will catch me either in the vertical, at long range with the 20mm's,  or in a flat or even decending turn... Now in Il-2 and Pacifice Fighters the spit is good, but it can't outtrun a Ki-84, or even come close to a zero. It's more like a Ki-61 in this game then anything else, and in PF the P-51's and Ki-61s are a vlose match too except the P-51's have much better speed and range.  So any ideas or comment on this? I'm sure this has come up before! lol Just so you all know, I don' t mind the Spit 1, 9 or 14, they all have some sort of negative, the spit 5 and seafire (basicly the same plane in the game) seem to hold E better then any plane and are among the highest turners. Thats basicly it.

Try the a6m, the Hurricane, the FM2 and...the 109F, - lightly loaded.
All make an interesting matchup with the Spit.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Well as I've said I've flown for 5 years now, I landed 6 kills in a zero just the other day against spits, F4u's and P-47s. I don't care much for the hurrys, I like there preformance but it's just simply TOO slow and the lack of ammo is killer. The FM-2 is what I think is the best low speed turner, I say this because it's good at all speeds, you dive that sucker as fast as you can go and it still turns on a dime! 4x .50 cals with 400rpg are way better then the other setups on the turners to me, good ammo and firepower mixed. I have success with all those as I've said, it's just I hate HAVING to fly these simply because of the Spits. The other day I joined an h2h room with P-51s and 190Ds, I flew the 190s and kicked prettythang!  It's just in the MA the Spit5 has limits (mostly range and ammo) but in real life I don't think they added the right limited, it's just the how much E it can store that truly bothers me. lol Ahh well.

The Hurry is roughly about as fast as a Zero, and much more lethal. Just don't spray....
