A much more rare occurance on a Jug then it was on the 51s, mainly because the RAF used it first on thier Mustangs with the USAAF following suit.

The Jug you posted is a war weary razorback used by the 5th Rescue Squadron, so it wasn't really a frontline combat Jug at the time

Malcolm Hood, maybe relative of Robin Hood?

I've actually never seen that, how odd that looks!

Doesn't our P-51B have the same hood?

Yes it does. The P51B/C "Mustang III" is what made the malcolm hood famous (as that is what the 'Hood was put on)

Technically not a Malcom hood on the Spit.  Definately a blown canopy like the Malcom.

There are still folks who think all the Malcom was on a Mustang was a Spitfire canopy.  Not that the size or shape would even remotely fit :)

lol fair enough, that told me :)

was it just the same company that developed the RAF Mustang hoods and the Spitfire hoods?
