"Faith". Sea Gladiator N5520 of 802 squadron from June to November 1939, she joined the Hal Far Fighter Flight in April 1940. She was quick to defend Malta, and whilst piloted by Flt Lt JL Waters RAF shot down and destroyed an Italian S.79 on 11 June 1940, and the next day on 12 June 1940 destroyed another S.79. She was renamed "Faith" between October 1941 and January 1942. Fuselage preserved Malta.

"Hope". Sea Gladiator N5531 of 802 squadron from June 1939 to January 1940, joined the Hal Far Flight, and was renamed "Hope on 19 April 1940. She was destroyed in an air raid on 4 February 1941

"Charity". Sea Gladiator N5519 ‘G6A’ of 802 squadron from June-September 1939, she joined the Hal Far Fighter Flight and renamed 'Charity' on 19 April 1940. She was involved in defending Malta over the critical 1940 period but was shot down on 29 July 1940 and her pilot F/O PW Hartley RAF was badly burned.

Sorry Kev but the preserved Glad shows no indication that it had ever flown. The wing attachment points still have the manufacturers red lead inhibitor. Also the constructor's number which should be on the fuselage frames and cabane struts have been sanded off and painted over.

N5520 was lost on June 26th. Some say Faith was N5519 but this a/c was lost June 24th.

N5523, 24, 29 and 31 were still flying at the end of June (we have a conflict of dates).

The names, Faith, Hope and Charity, first appeared in a Maltese newspaper article some months after the battles they were suppose to have been in.

There was at least 6 Glads in Malta. N5531 came from Courageous and another came from Glorious. N5519-20, N5524 and N5529 were erected in Kalafrana.

The info I got came right off the Fleet Air Arm website.
But always possible it's incorrect.

Yup the 4th one never flew, it was kept unassembled.

Nah, blame me, I wrote "Glouster" to begin with.

Couldn't remember if it was Glouster or Gloster, thought it would be like Gloucestershire.

Bloody Brit spelling - think I'll learn Urdu instead.
