I like the fact that when you go from the ball turret to the tail the guns are pointing in the same direction (as long as the gun has the ability to point in that direction). The problem comes when you go from the nose gun to the tail gun or visa versa. A good way around this is to get in the habit of quickly switching to cockpit view before going to the next gun. When you do it that way the gun will be in its nuetral position.
