The 332nd launched 9 F4F’s from C3 and headed north to scout out and remove the CAP over the enemy fleet. We divided up into pairs and began to scout out 8.14 and 9.14 first. Maddog was the one that called it right on and said the enemy fleet will be in the top North East 9.14 corner. On the way Sour and Grillman spotted an enemy scout and shot it down. We all continued North and when I (flying solo) spotted land I turned North East for the 9.14 sector. Just by sheer luck I checked my 6 and spotted two Zekes on my 6 and one was about 600 back. I rolled over and dove. While evading and diving someone called they spotted the enemy task group. I think it was Heavy and TCE. Ghosth and outlaw were providing a close escort for the SEKegger, and Dace and told them were to head. I was now on the deck and spotted Maddog and Carbheat running West to help me out. We flew passed each other with the plan of taking out the Zekes on each others tail. Due to my lousy gunnery skills I missed the one on Maddog’s six. A low level knife fight ensued and we did not fair too well. Was fun while it lasted. I then was a gunner for SEDan and had a great time. Most, if not all the SBD’s made it to target and sunk the CV. SEDan took out many gun emplacements and the radar on the CV and then did some nice flying. Ghosth , outlaw and Grillman saved our bacon taking out at least 2 Zekes that would have had us for lunch. One of the SBD’s sunk the CV. Don’t know about any other ships.

Was fun despite my lack of getting a kill. :)
