The server move
« on: October 18, 2005, 09:36:17 PM »
I have been playing online flight sims for a good while now.I can guarantee that when this move is complete some players will benefit greatly, others will suffer worse cons, and some will stay about the same. There will always be some crap hole hop that will drag your con down somewhere along the route. For me it was in Chicago, and it was Saavis of course. In AW there was the flipping Alternet, and a cesspool hop in Greensboro,NC.Can't recall which hop got me in War Birds, but I know they tried another provider as soon as their contract was up.This continuing cycle will repeat itself over, and over again. The internet is something HTC has absolutely no control over. They do have control over the quality of service that the provider they contract provides.Saavis was the lousiest I have yet experienced in all my years of online flying.Skuzzy is very knowledgeable in the area of internet technology, and we are fortunate to have him working for us.I was wondering if the MA server address will remain the same?Hang in there fellas it will be a couple more days, and we should see some improvement.

The MA IP address will be changing (as will all the arenas) in its new location.  I will post it in the stickied 'Hints and Tips' post at the top of this forum.

And you are quite correct about ping times changing for everyone, along with the odd issues.  People need to understand, at any given time (talking about a one minute resolution here), there is and always will be, problems somewhere on the Internet.  One minute it will effect you, the next minute, someone else.  There is absolutely no way around this.

Once the MA is setup in its new home, we will transfer the rest of the arenas to it and then move the rest of the servers from St. Louis.  The goal is to have this all completed sometime late Friday night of this week.

None of this goes as smooth as you would like, and we are working on it everyday.  We understand the frustration of the community and appreciate the patience people are showing.  We have endeavored to let everyone know what is going on (I know that is little consolation) and will continue to so.
