Ive had to see that many times (and do it twice) in my short live as a vet. Never gets easy.

But think of what you had with him/her, the good times spend with the 'pack'.

Morph, sorry about your dog man. My 1st Rottie dies in my arms in my living room a few years back. He was only 4 and the best dog Ive ever had ( and Ive had some damn good dogs) I was devastated. I had to take a shift off from work. Take your time on getting another dog. You'll know when your're ready. It took me two years to get another, but Im the proud owner of another fine Rottie.

an animal dying is far less grevious and breath taking than a family member of great friend dying.

but somehow, through the barrier of exact communication watching the suffering of an animal is far more instantly painfull and gut wrenching.

its times like this that we realise, life, from a single cell organism to the greatest magnificant animals that ever roamed our earth, is all about the same thing in death. the energy of consiousness and life itself is just as fleeting and appreciated by anything that is alive at deaths door.

geuss thats just a prediction, but one day i too will know.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Thanks man, I like rotties. We've always had goldens or labs. I had her for 14 years, it feels like 14 days now that I think back on it. She was the best dog too. Smart as hell.

Morph, sorry to hear about the Golden.  I lost my Elkhound 2 years and 2 days ago, and was absolutely devastated.  First non Lab in the family in 50+ years, my son was crushed more then I was, and still to this day he thinks about him all the time.  I said to myself I never wanted another dog again, but my son wanted one so very badly that I broke down 7 months later.  I now have a beautiful Lab/Mastiff/Greyhound mix that is beautiful and freakin huge and would never trade her for the world.  Will post some pics, but give it time.  The good always outweighs the bads.

Oh and I named her Deva (figured you would like that name :P), 98 pounds, skinnier then a rail, and runs like a freakin "lazer beam".

I am sorry to hear about your loss Morph and fubar, I had a birddog from the time I was 4 until after I graduated.  It was tough seeing him go!  And that's all I have to say about that.

It might be that there are some people that dont care, but some of us still care about the person behind the keyboard/monitor.
