Well the waiting is over. I got selected for the ASTAC billet on an FFG in Mayport.

One of the Frigates in the lower part of the station is my next ship USS MCINERNEY FFG-8

This is great news...Going back to Jacksonville! Place of my childhood.

My daughter was my biggest motivation for trying to get back there..now maybe I can see her at least every weekend..instead of once or twice a year.

I don't remember her name... just all the laughing we did with friends about it.  She'd been tied up for nearly a year I think it was, and it was said she'd be there for at least another 18months.  I think she was an FFG, but I can't swear to it.  Bout all I can remember from Mayport was the standing joke about Building 51 and people crackin on "The Headshot" (CV67) about how messed it up she was at the time.

We were at King's Bay, but had friends at Mayport and were down there just about every weekend.  The wife was at port services, then the Oakridge, and we moved to Groton with her.
