December 27, 2000 - Letter from William Silverthorn To Associated Press:

"AP is showing Gore's popular vote lead as exceeding 539,000. Your article claims that this is based on the individual states data. Yet research that any person can do themselves (websites listed below) show that as of this date the actual lead by Gore is 393,434, with Bush's total at 50,515,052 and Gores at 50,908,486. Hence you are falsely inflating this figure by well over 140,000, by falsely reporting a lower total for Bush and a higher total for Gore.

"Although the AP's bias in news reporting has always been alleged, I can see no better testimony to this fact than your latest misinformation on the popular vote figures."
