AH 2 - Gunnery Model
« on: November 02, 2005, 04:08:26 PM »
Im just wondering, did the gunnery model change slightly for AH 2??
I ask cause i seem to notice a couple of things which are different from i remember in AH 1:

1. No hit sprites visable under the nose (this is a good thing IMO). I always used to be able to see hit sprites on high-deflection shots if i hit con and he was under my nose.

2.  Seems the planes dont look like the fill the gunsights like they used to at 400 yrds. I seem to remember them looking bigger in your sights at 400 yrds, and thus easier to hit at that range. Now i find i wont even think about opening up under im well under that. My preferred convergence settings has been shortened from 400 (in AH1) to 350 (in AH2).

Maybe i just have seriously rusty and s*ck *ss gunnery skilz, and they'll improve back to where they were. I expected this, but i didnt expect the whole model just to 'feel' different.

Am i nuts? and are imagining things or was there a change?

There were changes. a whole bunch from FM adjustments, the reduction is hit resolution, icons under the nose, no exact icon range etc... Search HT / Pyro's old replies...

Add in the fact you haven't played in a while and there you go...

However, folks who have stuck with the change from 1 to 2 have adjusted...

The change for me was simple - putting more bullets out into the air. Hence, the P47 from the P38. AH1 I was shooting in the high teens to low 20 % range. Prob b/c it was the 38 - course now i'm doing between 8 and 13 % b/c of the sheer volumn of fire. Gunnery hasn't changed from my end - but the perspective that we were used to with the older cockpits has. That i believe was the caviat.
