Early War Arena
« on: November 02, 2005, 08:04:01 AM »
Since rolling planesets are frowned upon, I'd like to see HT create an early war arena. One with all the planes that are seldom used.  Even if it was put up once a week it would be a nice change. Maybe make the CT the early war arena once a week.

This week's setup in the CT is early war (see this thread), but it looks like there aren't too many people interested in flying there... Too bad, could be fun in those planes (for a while anyway).

Oh, and we need more early war planes too - like the Brewster 239. ;)

WW1 Arena was cool in earlier SIMS.

early planes rt late planes gettin banged on by 3 or more is no fun. Ive logged into Ct twice in past week and encountered a 3 on one and a 4 on one..I promptly logged...now an arena where u had time limits  after getting shotdown before you could reup would be cool, or mini scenarios that started once every half hour or so.

Maybe have it so at the top of every hour, fileds are open for 10 minutes, then close till the top of the following hour. Or less time, maybe every half hour.

You could make Furball Island an Early War place.  I loved it when they did that.

Now that would be great, although I know it will never happen.

Ditto. All the non-war-effort fun you could have on the center island before they changed it.

The sad but true fact is that the CT early war setups draw the fewest people.  Partly this is due to the fact that, when you get right down to it, we don't have a lot of early war planes that can be thrown together and not have one be totally dominant.  In my view, though, the main reason people don't like the early war set is that the guns on those planes aren't terribly powerful - so people who are adept at high-angle-off snapshots are suddenly neutered, and getting kills becomes much more difficult.

Come try it out, see if you think I'm wrong!

Which is about 83.7% of the MA population. Its hard to make those do-or-die snapshots in a Hurri I or a C202.

Tell that to the La7 and Spit 9 that fell to the Hurricane Mk. I I rolled AND landed.  Both were ACM.
