New Song (Weekly Installment)
« on: November 04, 2005, 01:45:22 PM »
I'm going to make an effort to make my "Musical Blasphemy" installments a weekly event with new releases happening on Fridays.

To begin this tradition...I have killed the Blues Traveler song "Run Around" and entitled it Run Aground.

For what its worth, these start as improv and I'm just winging it usually the first time through and jot down some lyrics after I have an idea on how things might flow and generally spend less than an hour per song.  No Dave Shaw masterpieces coming from me here :)

Run Aground

Run Aground
Once upon a late night mission
I spoke up with something in my head
I couldn’t shake the memory
Of a past run and we all ended up dead
Like a lawn dart without air brakes
I could not believe my eyes
When I heard the voices of none of my friends
They’re all compressed and screaming as they die
Yeah screaming as they compress and die
And I’ll die too and say I don’t mind
Cause what will they say when they find
That I am the only one who didn’t crash
Man I’m telling ya they’d have my ass

But you…why you want to fly in the ground
It’s a sure fire way to end up burning
And all you had to do was slow it down

It really shook me and my confidence
About the way they plan missions
But I’ve been there to see them cower above me
With at least 30,000 ft under their wings
It’s a good day when they heroes fight
But I don’t really expect too much
Cause these armchair generals just can’t fight
And they’re barking out their orders all night
Yeah they’re barking out their orders all night
But I want more than orders I want em to lead
But they’ll go places where no one else can see
And bomb the heck out of a radar shed
And even then they’ll usually end up dead

But you…why you want to fly in the ground
It’s a sure fire way to end up burning
And all you had to do was slow it down

Oh I like props
And I like jets
Haven’t met a plane I didn’t like yet
Except for maybe those freakin’ uberfast lalas
I hate em so much cause you just cant shake em
Well I’ll roll right and then I’ll break
But no matter what I just can’t shake
Those damn red nosed birds of gay
I hope I can live to seem em auger and say

But you…why you want to fly in the ground
It’s a sure fire way to end u burning
And all you had to do was slow it down

At random points in time while listening to this song, I found myself thinking, "Why the f am I listening to this crap!"

But then the chorus would kick in and I would find myself dancing nude pretending millions of people were watching me.  I am the best dancer in the world and now everyone knows it.

But I'm going to give this a 7 out of 10 which is good, but not good enough to share with my friends.:D

P.S. I really like most of the song.

P.P.S. I now give it a 9 out of 10.  I've listened to it about 3 times and that's one funny song.:rofl

Time's fun when you're having flies.

wtf?!

Wasnt that bad... I like the ones about players. The one about the BK's was good too. When you're creative as you were with the Ode to BK's song, they come out great.

I think the one per week idea will work well because of such things.  Sitting down and trying to make up some 'theme' non specific stuff will just end up with one song to 52 different tunes.

A weekly roast on the other hand...could be fun.

By the way...I am unable to upload small mp3s and mpgs to your site.  little help?  I've got a 5 meg mpg i'd like thrown on the net.

A weekly roast is in order. I like a good roast, esp when Im being roasted, so roast away. The songs are harmless, and worth a great laugh. The one about Shawk nearly made me wet my pants...

You're all set to upload mp3's to my site btw. Only you though, and only the songs you do... None others.

Golfer, you still can't sing for crap LOL

BTW, Nuke..the song you have is by the same artist
(Of course "artist" is a bit of a stretch)

Always stating the obvious.  If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times.  I can't sing nor do I claim to be a singer.  Thats why it's funny :)
