No such thing as a innocent bystander in a well established combat zone.

The guy with the green flag.

Do the wondermen that make it into Blackwater and such start as early as childhood to make it that high, or is it something you can take up after your twenties without significant handicaps?

I believe that the footage was shot during the Marine clearing of Fallujah. At the time of the Marine advance the populace was warned that anyone still in the city and out on the street would be considered an insurgent and treated accordingly. The green flag being spoken of indicated that their targets were most likely groups of Jihadis (large groups of armed men - "return fire, shooting and running" are not "innocent bystanders"). For those curious, Green is the color of Islam and all of the various Muslim brotherhood groups incorporate it into their flags, most are just slogans or verses in Arabic on Green Background.

most of them are former military/law enforcment.  Alot of guys get out of the military because they don't want to retrain to another carreer field, some just look at the grass on the other side and see that it is in fact greener....with $$$$$$ signs.

Well probably not.  They look for military expereince and you have to be in impecable shape.  If you are not in shape nore do you have ANY military/police experience I don't think they'd take you.  I don't  believe these guys train, they just hire

ooops I stand corrected.  Here's a start if you are interested

No, I don't think you can go knock at their door with a beer belly as most valuable asset :D
I was thinking of the difference in performance between someone who's been doing it since early on, say out of high school, and someone who'd only start (do all the prep required) after about 20, whether the difference on the field was significant or not.
Guess it isn't..

Thanks.

From a military stand point it isn't much different either.  I have had trainees that were 10 years older than me and only E2s.  The guys that aren't right out of high school usually have a good lick real world common sense that the 18yo don't have.

"The 5-man Blackwater crew that was assinged to CPA Najaf were coming under heavy small arms and mortar fire, the city was being taken over by insurgents. The police stations and hospitals were taken over as well, after a day of fighting off hundreds of insurgents the city had been completely overrun, with the CPA in the heart of the city and no way out.

The Team called up to Baghdad and reported the situation, they said they needed immediate extract which Gen Sanchez also denied due to the fact the city had been overrun and there were no US troops there, only contractors.

Well, Ambassador Bremer was pissed at Sanchez and I remember being on office watch during the massive arguments! Ambassador Bremer and our Baghdad TM Leader got together and Bremer said ''I don't want another Bridge hanging! Get those boys out of there by any means nessassary!'' so 12 of us -- 6 pilots and 6 gunners loaded as much as we could in 3 MD530 little birds and headed 70 miles south. we flew in the first day and blind (no comms, and no intel on the heat) to try a resupply, land find out was was going on and then head back, rearm and get ready to go again. Well that night all hell broke lose and we flew back in. Over 1000 insurgents (reported by the F18 pilots) had taken the city and now wanted the CPA after a day of intense fighting by 11 BW guys, airstrikes, a handfull of Marines and 1 sniper we were able to hold them off. After it DIED down and gunships and SF guys finally started to roll in the battle was soon over and we the CPA was saved".
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Thanks Dago, my mistake on the call.

A lot of the SF guys here in Fayetteville are often tempted to work for Blackwater or similar companies instead of re-upping yet again. Even though the work is more dangerous and there is less support, the pay is much better, the deployments while regular are shorter, and you don't have to deal with even a tenth of the ridiculous political and bureaucratic nonsense that is choking the military's warfighting ability.
