Man sling shots with marbles, then we moved up to wrist rockets and steelies.... busted up baby Buggys and shoe skates to make go-carts, a simple stick as a brake....LOL
Hell waitin on the ice cream man,the Good Humor truck, and early in the morning came the produce man yellin out. That was after the milkman came and left milk bottles on the back porch. Penny candy, nickel ice cream bars, batman and superman comic books, LOL playin cops and robbers, cowboys and indians and then catching lightning bugs in a Mason jar. As long as you were IN or near the front yard before the street lights came on you were okay. Walking to school 5 blocks, in the rain, snow, sleet...and coming home on Mother's day with a Marigold and a scribbled card saying "I Love You Mom". The newest things were the Freisbee and later the hula hoop. Black and White TV, let it warm up for 30 minutes and it was good...3 channels.... The cartoons were kewl..Heckel and Jeckel, Mighty Mouse. Then was Captain Kangaroo and Romper Room. Tarzan was great, Godzilla was frightening and then Wizard of OZ was Great...except for them dam Flyin Monkeys...I still crindge... Davy and Goliath, Mouseketeers, The Hardy Boys,
The Pledge of Alligence, hand over Heart, and a song afterwards.. either singing My Country the Beautiful or This is My Land.
