When I go to Icon settings, the picture box on the right stays black, no matter where I move the sliders, all the dots for planes on the clipboard map are black (dont know if thats normal) and the check ping status box is black too.
                                     Thanks,     JB39  III/Jabostaffel

This sounds like a graphics card driver problem. Do you have the newest ones?

I think so, its a Radeon 9250 card. The driver is version 8.191.0.0.  The date shown for it is 10/28/05-     JB39

You might want to try rolling back your driver.  I've got a cheap Nvidia and AH won't run on the newer drivers.

Instructions for proper install of video drivers.

Pick 1 driver:

Nvidea - http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

ATI - http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/....x=5&submit.y=4 - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

Omega tweaked drivers. Recommended by Nvidea and ATI - http://www.omegadrivers.net/main.php - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

Now get this:
http://www.driverheaven.net - Put it on your desktop

Now install DRIVER CLEANER

Go to add and remove programs and remove all references to ATI or Nvidea.

Restart in safe mode. Usually by clicking the f8 button during reboot.

DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING if windows asks.

.

Run DRIVER CLEANER. Pick the appropriate filter in the scroll down box AND CLICK THE CLEAN button.

Then restart. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING once again. It's ok, all will be well :)

When you reach your desktop click on the driver you downloaded and follow prompts.

Restart..

If you have any problems read the helpfile that comes with DRIVE CLEANER.

You need to use the 4.12 Catalyst drivers for that video card.  If you use the latest drivers from ATI, you will have the problems you are describing.

OK, I'll try that out.  Is it due to the docking station?  Just curious.  Thanks for the help everyone.

ATI will not allow older downloads, so I cannot get 4.10 from them.  Any site I go to from a search, redirects me to ATI.   :(     GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR

You have to expand the list on the left in the ATI downloads page.  After enough expansions you will see the option for previously released drivers.

ATI does not allow direct links to the drivers anymore or I would post it.

By the way, if this is a laptop, you should not use the drivers at ATI's WEB site.  Laptop drivers must be acquired from the manufacturer of the laptop.

9250 cards are picky when it comes to drivers
either use 4.3,4.7 or the 4.12's one of these will work . (i think i used 4.7's on the last 9250 i set up )

beshure to run dxdiag afterwards so its refreshed also.

I'm using a docking station that has a PCI (not express) slot in it.  That is where the ATI card is.  The only driver I could get from dell is the gforce 440 go that is disabled.  It boots to the docking station video. (ATI).
