Update#3 - Aircraft and Vehicle Service Dates
« on: November 09, 2005, 01:42:05 PM »
This is a working list. Please take a peek. Notes:

- Fw190D-9 updated: I've updated the service date for the Dora to 12-44 (my reference indicates the Dora saw service in September, but our variant was in place by January 45.)
- HurricaneIIC updated
- MosquitoIV updated
- Spitfire XIV updated: my source states a combat service date of July, but with the evidence I've seen here, and another reference for April/March, I'm going to pick May as operational.  Sometimes, units rushed aircraft with no training for their maintenance guys - that sometimes followed a month later).

Check for accuracy and post any comments below. Once compiled, I'll repost it again as the final list and we'll ask Skuzzy to sticky it.

11-43 is the Mossie's CBI date.  Somebody else read my post and started saying PTO for some reason.

The Spitfire Mk XVI (Mk 16) did not see service in the CBI.  The 7-45 date is for the Spitfire Mk XIV (Mk 14)'s CBI service date.  I posted this in the last thread and it got buried.

Hey Forkster,

Just a suggestion - you might want to list the EXACT model of the vehicles in the list.

For example - like the T-34 tank as the T-34/76 or M-3 Sherman tank as the M-3A1 Sherman - in the hope that someday we might see the T-34/85 or 76mm armed British Firefly Sherman and versions of the other vehicles.

Just a thought.

LW deployment of ac to the Eastern front were not always the same dates as deployments to "Western" fronts and differed in some cases by months equally RAF and USAAF as well as LW dates differ from ETO to the MED.

I note you add theatres which is very useful information......could you expand them to

WETO and EETO and maybe even add MED.

If we have the data, then I'll look at posting that too. But for now, general service dates work just fine.

They work for historical SEA events.  Coordinators are often left wondering what aircraft to use to balance sides during an event, let alone figure out if they were even there during a battle.

What I'm hoping to provide is a list of accurate general service dates for the CT Admins and the SEA planners to figure out what dates these aircraft were in use.

Something to consider, if we start playing battlefield commanders, it might be fun to shift aircraft based on thier service dates.  For example, if the Bf109G2 was available and saw combat June 6, but your event had Bf109F-4, you could, as BFC, request them for your battle.  An interesting concept that actually occured during WWII for Operation Overlord. Several new aircraft were brought into the combat theatre to assist in that operation, including the P-51's.  I remember reading about it during a military history presentation about D-Day planning while I was in the army.

Well, v2.06 is out so it is time to remove the Bf109G-10 and also add the Spitfire Mk VIII to the list.
