Nme Vox?
« on: November 24, 2005, 08:49:41 AM »
I know this is not a bug but it will get some notice in this forum.

we have bad word filters and monitors in the main arena but an NME can just tune to your ID in the game and say what ever they wants? last night i hear someone talking to me and then i realise it's not range channel and it has the persons name who i just shot down. he was bent out of shape that he lost a 262 and how many points they cost and how long it will take to get that many points accumulated again and he has friends in the game and they will hunt me...bla bla bla. he became beligerent and he went to the extent that he wanted to know where i lived and and that he was 220 Lbs and all muscle and he could beat me up...rotfl. not that that in it self is any big deal...internet tough guys are a joke....but the fact that he could even address me over vox and there is no way to squelch this. in fact i found it amusing to some extent. i think this really circumvents the tools that are in plce to preserve the integrity of the game. we don't even talk like this squad channel just out of repect for our squad mates.

people can't join your plane or gv with out your permission so at least give us the option to deny a vox request.

when i went to report this he had already logged off so i figure he does this to others as well and knows when to leave.

i can still report him when i see him online but this is well after the fact.

what if it was a kid he did this to? it might give the kid nightmares about some adult looking for him?

please HT...put something in so you have to give permission for this type of VOX com.

thanks

Reacher

Two things you can do.

Hit ALT R and send it to HTC. Youll never get a reply, but they deal with it in their own way.

.squelch works for voice as well. Im pretty sure it also does for privately tuned Vox.

I find it sad that such things happen, but i guess they are just inevitable in such a big community.

lol, ive had this kind of arguement with him aswell, he seems to get flared up easy, and likes to win arguments. had him going on about him being some street fighter dude, and i just said,

'so what, i weigh 190lbs, also pure muscle, but come to my house so i can hit you!' lol, he left after that. i wonder whether or not he was lying? i would love to see that JohnnyRa is some 5'3" 200lb fat computer geek :D:rofl

just ignore him, he has to make a big deal about his appearance (or lack of it) over the internet to get attention. just let him fester in his anger.

btw, you can just type .squelch JohnnyRa, it works for vox

It doesn't work work i tryed it.You hear a jarble sound and some other name appears in the upper corner.

I agree with you on the get permission tip though cuz some of these people are just to funny when you get them after you shot  them down,it's a game you know,what do you do at the arcade when you get Hemmed up?
You put another quarter in.Oh no they got to type your name in and talk some smack down.

To be totally honest.....they are the ones that usually end up reporting me.
When you put them in thier place,ya know remind them this is a game and they are just playing a game.I think it's FREE entertainment because when provoked i have been known to piss just about everybody off that says something to provoke it.I just keeps it Real.

How easy would it be to put a voice invite into the game?

The .squelch [gameID] works for text and voice. You can also highlight a name on the roster, right mouse click and bring up a menu and do it there.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

also to add to this....

private vox does record, and also pull up roster and right click the offenders name and a "report vox" thingy on 'em.

rofl, good tact there..... :)

Johnny Ra is a good guy at heart im sure, he just thinks a little to much of his Mad F4U-C Skilz.

and if someone really want to beat you up, isnt it better to lie and say your're 290LBs of pure muscle not just a 220lb normal type guy. :)

I'm pretty skinny, 6'0'', and about 200lbs. i dont consider my self to be anything near a danger to society with theses stats.

I can also vouch for the fact that the [.squelch JohnnyRa] command does work.

The problem may have been a typo in the dot command. If you don't spell "squelch" right it won't do anything. If you don't do the name right, say you put in JhnnyRa, it will only give you one message (JhnnyRa has been squelched) but if it does work and the person is online, you get two;
SYSTEM: JohnnyRa has been squelched
SYSTEM: JohnnyRa has been voice Squelched

players should need your permission for a private message.I have only had this twice,and both times it was because they didn't like being shot down by a %^&*&^&* dweeb..lol.players have to ask to join my plane,they should need my permission if they wish to insult me.

I've never tried this myself but in version 2.03 HT introduced:
========================
Added a new command to report abuses of the voice and text radio systems. Abuses can be reported by right clicking the players game ID on the roster, or by using the .report XXXX command to report text abuses and the .vreport XXXX to report voice abuses. The XXXX in those commands represents the player's ID. Abuses of the radio and chat systems or abuses of the reporting system will result in a loss of
use of those systems.
========================

I guess in depends on whether the person was abusive or not, if they were just yapping, like most guys, then that's more worthy of a good laugh and a .squelch.  If it was abusive then maybe it was worth the above.

I'm not really sure how that system works, but I think it might be on how many guys report them. If it's a PM, then it wouldn't be all that handy. But again, I dunno.

Seems strange that it would be a dot command if it wasn't more elaborate than that.  Having individual commands for vox vs. text makes me thing it had more capability than a simple counter.  No technical reason why it might not be able to access a recent buffered history like a data recorder, all vox/text passes through the HT servers.

Just a thought, never was a confirmation about that but there was some discussion when it was introduced and HT didn't deny it.
