Back to the England thing...

Swoop...

I recall reading somewhere that the actual, actual name of the country (The United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Wales??), also included an often ignored reference to the British monarchy's legal claim to the throne of France.

Is this correct as far as you know?  I seem to remember something about how, historically, the English had succeeded in pursuing the hereditary claim to the French throne (a la Henry V), but that modern sensibilities precluded making a big deal about it.

It was an interesting tidbit...can you expand?

Regards...

My wife became a citizen in '94.

She said the test was easy, no problem.  She thought the process was the hardest part.

Now, since she is a woman, and Italian, and she said it was easy, you should pass with no problems at all!  Afterall, none of the questions involved determining the correct time to cook pasta!  Which btw, she knows very well, and I am a very happy man because of it.

Seagooon, where did you usd to live?:)

I was born in Great Britain (Rochford, to be exact) and moved the USA with my parents when I was 6 years old. My wife is American, my kids are American, heck, even my Dad is now a naturalized citizen - definitely time for me to get with the program. ;)

1,2, and 3 were a cinch. But as soon as you hit sports history, I drew a complete blank. Apparently I'm sunk and don't have what it takes to become a real American.

I do however know how many times Arsenal have won the FA cup, and what songs to sing at the clock end of Highbury.
