You need to watch some first class rugby.  Unprotected players take hits (tackles - call em what u like) from unprotected 280-300lb second row forwards every game dozens of times.

You may have a point about agility tho'.  Second row forwards aren't trained to be agile - just hard.  Ballet dancers are good at agility.

Rugby, although I'm not european or from australia, is a tough arse sport.  It's a little dweeby with that ref phag-ing around with his hands up like a girl after a score, but I've watched some and the hits are real and very harsh.  I think many NFL players would opt out of being invited to play with pro rugby guys as they are too used to their pads.  Snapping a leg is snapping a leg pads on or not!

We have something similar to rugby in the states. Its basicly football without the pads. Our women play in them and we call them "Powderpuff" games. Anyone with testicles plays football or hockey.
