nope.

its olive drab man. there were no black P-38s except the nightfighter version with the radar and extra bubble cockpit for the radar operator.

its just a color shifted photo but you can still tell its Olive Drab.

I am sure all Knigh Rider fans love having a black P38 but it just wasn't there in the daylight air war.

No -Gs were night fighters, from memory. That's clearly an OD paint scheme (look at the wingtip). Like I've said before, color film back then was primitive. Much more so than what we have today. The processing and the development of film and photos, coupled with the film that couldn't differentiate between all colors, often meant that colors showed up wrong.

Looks like the image was either:

1) over exposed when taken, they didn't have sophisticated light meters like we do now

2) not stopped 100% when printed, so that it got darker over time, or burned when printing

3) Just couldn't get the color on the film properly, and/or scanned improperly to get it into digital format.

Might not look so dark if the ground behind it wasn't tinted blue from the haze too.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Nope, just an OD/Gray P38H.  A better picture of the same bird. Check the serial on the tail.  It matchs :)

Lots of photos of that brand new H taken on a factory test flight

As far as I know there never was a black P-38?  At least not a fighter version?
