I'm thankful for...
« on: November 23, 2005, 01:51:05 PM »
On the dual subjects of thanksgiving and theoretical war with another big country (china thread)...

I'm thankful for cluster munitions and sunshine in a can.  Those two technologies kept the US and USSR from duking it out over Europe for 50 years.

Thank you Mr. cluster munitions man.

Oh yea, I'm also thankful for the spitfire.  What a nice plane.

I don't have a vette :(  I have a TransAm which is pretty neat, but it's not a vette.  My Dad has a C5 Z06 vette and that's really neat.

I'm buying a big house soon...  That's neat but painful so I'm not too thankful about that.  The house is also probably going to be the deciding factor as to what kind of BMW I get before I leave the UK.

The choice was either a nice 330i or M3.  I like the old 3-series body style and the M3 is very very neat (spiffy even), but it's about 12k more than a loaded 330i and that money probably ought to go into the house.

So I'm not thankful that I probably won't be getting an M3.  And that makes me not as thankful that my wife is getting the 330i.  Which means that I'm not quite as thankful about my firebird as I used to be, because it's not a vette or an M3.

But the house will be nice.  And big.  And on a lake.  So that's great, but right now the house is still an empty dirt area, some trees, and other basic building materials.  It won't really be a house until I fork over some money and wait.  And wait.  And wait some more.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I'm thankfull for my wife and son, a huge beautiful country to explore and the freedom that enables me to do so.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I'm thankful for having had an education that included spelling, a passport which  enables me to visit any beautiful country of my own choosing, and the wherewithal to be able to do it.

I am thankful we dont have socialized medicine, we do have excellant dental care, the best military in the world, and that John Kerry is not the President.

I am also thankful for my families health, my continued employment, and that God gave me enough sense and money so I am not a democratic or liberal.  :D

Too many things to list, but I'll keep it short:
I'm thankful for 2 wonderful children who brighten every day....for a loving wife who is my best friend....for a roof over my head that we earned together as a team....and I'm thankful for living in one of the best countries in the world.

Oh yeah, and I'm grateful that we have socialised medicine. I'm also grateful for  private health care, which is what I use, so that I don't have to share a hospital with someone who has bad breath. I'm also grateful for the fact that on the rare occasions I've needed hospital care, I am served a glass of wine with my evening meal, the hospital staff having satisfied themselves that I'm not an alcohol abuser. ;) I'm grateful to my dental practice, which is now entirely private, where the care and advice is so good that the last time I needed a tooth drilled was way back in 1988. And I'm grateful that I don't have to work. :D:D:p

I'm thankful for being alive and being able to realize what potential I have in whatever way I find most desireable.

Am thankful for the people who've crossed my path in life and walk or has walked on or parallell to it. Those who're not here as well as those who're still walking.

I'm thankful that I still got curiosity. Am thankful for, even though it causes inconvenciences and challenges, not really being able to be part of the norm and living a weird sort of life. Am grateful that I don't have to follow the One Path Of Life and am grateful that I somehow realized this.

I'm pretty happy basically because I can experience things. I know it won't last forever. It's pretty amazing to be able to. Mindboggling, if you think about it.

Life's cool, dude, even though it can be hard.

"I'm thankful for... "

A couple things I'm thankful for:

I didn't grow up in a big city or suburb of one.

My wife likes cooking, baking, sewing, wearing appealing girly things and generally being feminine.

I'm grateful for history.. without it we'd have no idea how bad things could be.

I'm grateful the Brits can't spell color or catalog and had Lord Nelson and Churchill. In that order.

I'm grateful the French had Lafayette and Napolean. In that order.

I'm grateful for the young american men and women that stood up to do what had to be done, when it had to be done.

I'm grateful my kid lived to be a happy person, smile at me and say "I get it now, Daddy. Thanks for being there."

I'm grateful my arms and legs are still all attached and I'm grateful every time I take a dump that my head doesn't explode.

I'm grateful I can still appreciate being grateful.. and grateful my accomplishments won't be judged for spelling or puctuaition.

Happy Thanksgiving, my friends!

Still being able to fly despite getting type 1 diabetes.

Still having a job that I am proud of, being able to serve my country in the capacity it allows me.

Having great friends i've met through here in flight and IRL.

Having an ontime flight from SJC into New York to be with mom dad and my bro, and not managing to kill anyone while driving on the Cross Bronx expressway going home.

For Pavel, Estel, SHawk, Nuke, Skipnutz, Jollyrgr, and countless others who've touched my life in the most positive ways.

My wife Eva for bringing out the best in me, and making the world a bit more bearable for everyone around us.

S!
