Converting problem
« on: December 11, 2005, 03:27:05 PM »
Now i am really angry!
For a few days i am trying to import my simple box object into oe.Every time same message: Missing file roof.bmp
I saw a post wich said you have to keep the texture and the .ac file in the same folder and that should solve the problem. But i still have it(problem).I am going crazy please help!!(My texture file is 8 bit,512x512,bmp so the problem is not in that)

It is best to use the "export" folder. That is where the OE exports the sample objects as .ac files and .bmp files. I assume that you have textured your box object in ac3d and have had the .ac and .bmp in same folder (that is what you have to do). The you have opened OE and are trying to use the "file/convert ac3d file" command.

That is how it should work, provided you have built the hierarchy tree with proper tags inserted for MaxDist etc in ac3d. Then, as a result, you would get a .shp and .htx file into your userlib folder.

I have made simple box,set its object properties to MaxDist=2000,set hierarchy as found in ac3d file in object editor folder, textured it and saved it to the same folder where my texture file is (to export folder).Still having the same problem......

I can take a look if you zip them (the .ac and roof.bmp) and mail them to me. BlauK(at)hitechcreations.com

I sent mail back to you :)

I did not get any "missing bmp" errors in OE, but my OE crashed completely while trying to convert your file.

The problem seemed to be in the hierarchy tree. You must have the "MaxDist" tag in each and every level/group not counting the top "world" level.
It was missing from the "objects" and VOD" groups. After adding those it converted ok.
