Jacques and Gilles were Canadian.  As much as I'd like to claim they were Americans... its just not true.  Someone from Canada is a Canadian.  Someone from the US is an American.  Someone frome either is a North American (Mexico too).

Jacques was someone I hated in Indy... he was a decent driver but seemed to always be hooked up with the best team/car.  When he went to F1, I thought he'd get his butt kicked (as did most of the world).  I guess we were all suprised.

I've heard that Jacques actually spent several hours practicing at each course.  He took the competition very seriously and spent the time researching and driving to overcome the experience handicap.  Micheal Andrettie Jr. used to just show up and race (minimal practice).  The difference in dedication was readily apparent.  Thankyou Mr. Andretti (jr) for showing just how lazy an American can be.

All this talk about Mika and Schumi is kinda funny to watch.  You guys do realize it just hasn't been the same since the days of Senna and Prost?

JV had the best car in CART?  I don't recall Forsythe-Green winning ANYTHING before he drove for them and they've done very little since then.  He drove a Reynard Ford which several other teams had.  He won because he was the best driver - that's how it goes in CART.  IMHO he's the best driver in the world to this day.

Except maybe Häkkinen!  WTG Mika!!!!!!!!

I have to agree.  But I didn't think that when he was racing Indy.  I don't care what the past history of his team was... for 2 years they kicked but.  The car never broke... the pit stops were short.  They were awesome.  It just seemed like Jacques caught more breaks than the average driver... and usually that is because of the team.

When he went to F1.. he dispelled all those believes.

There was another indy driver that I believe could have done the same... but he died last year in a tragic accident

Anyone else see the irony of a thread starting out with a bumper sticker ending up being a thread about cars with no bumpers?

Gilles & Jacques Villenueve... the Canadians, started with sleds (snowmobiles).
To race in the winter takes dedication.
As european rally fans know.

No wonder Jacques tested the tracks in F1 before racing on them.

Besides most American drivers only know how to turn left...

Ya mean like a Chevy Geo Metro?

A person has a better chance of running over one on foot then getting run over by one.

I'm a Ferrari fan.  I do like Schumi though.

I will say this, after watching yesterday's race I noticed two things.  Mika's car definately was braking better yesterday, even though Schumi was posting faster laps earlier in the race, and the move Mika put on Schumi to get the lead was just IMPRESSIVE.  He almost had Schumi the previous lap, but I think Schumi did an outstanding defensive move.  But on the pass on that corner, that was just outstanding driving on Mika's part.
