Still remember this one? Jane's WW2 Fighters
« on: July 13, 2001, 08:17:00 PM »
I wanted to play with Photoshop and needed some pics of planes from PC-games and then I remembered that I should have that game somewhere.
I installed it and downloaded last patch to it and started to play.
I was kinda surprised how beautifull that game was and after few small changes in ini-file its actually very nice and like other games in "Jane's" serie it got plenty of information and  few cool video-clips  :)
It's old game from 1998 so if you find it from some game-store my guess is it could be quite cheap.

Few screenshots

Staga,
WW2 Fighter still have the best looking Gaugages of any WW2 flight Sim out there if you ask me.
And the Fire FX when you hit a plane, explosions, Mega cool looking !
And the Sounds are great too. (in high speed turns you hear the pilot heavy breath and the heartbeat.)

the minus is the boring landscape and the FM is really kinda Arcade ;(

lol Staga, I used to hunt deer in there too.

Too bad they didn't develop it further. I really liked the missions... the navigation, taxiing.

Ghost, I thought the landscape was pretty good. At least it fit the setting. The snowy hills and those cold-looking clouds always gave me a chill.

I think the view system was the worst part of the game.

I spent hours just watching flybys in external view. The cool doppler effect, the casings ejecting...   :)

Sometimes eye candy has its place.
