I'd laugh my arse off if you did that and then I read in the paper about some glaring idiot that is being sued for harassment because he's blaring music and lights into his neighbors house.

40 days ago there were stuffed fake dead guys, ghosts, and skeletons hanging from trees everywhere, in the name of fun.  Kids weren’t traumatized by any of that.  This guy is undoubtedly a jerk, but folks are blowing it way out of proportion.

P.S.

This morning I fed my 6 and 4 year old daughters reindeer sausage with their breakfast.  They were not traumatized.

The same way I could not traumatize the language filter with choice obscenities.
I think a bound and hung Santa in the middle of the average neighbourhood, with no precedents to acclimatize the audience is different story.

That's why I think it's obscene before anything else, but like I said, I don't know the neighbourhood, YMMV.

Sigh... Ho, Ho, no.

I have to admit to viewing stuff like this as previews of coming attractions. Our culture certainly isn't on the glide path to more noble, kind, decent, or even neighborly behavior and thing like this will probably become more common, especially as the envelope gets stretched further and further.

As a father of 3 children under the age of 6, I wish I could somehow protect them from having to encounter all the evil and twisted garbage that the world produces, but since I know I can't, I have to focus on helping them to build a worldview that can correctly process, and accurately filter it. To be perfectly honest though, I do not enjoy the process of having them encounter stuff like this. Ah well, if only I believed that the Amish had the right approach....

May all your children make it to the New Year relatively untraumatized guys.

If my neighbor had done that I would sneak over there in the middle of the night and rescue Santa, armed with rifle and pistol of course.....
