Break down of last flight...
« on: October 28, 2006, 09:16:05 AM »
I was flying in the Mid War arena last night in my Zeke and when I landed I went to the hangar to check my perks.  I shot down a B24 and two Spits and took out a couple of field ack guns and earned 11.5 perks.  I thought it would be neat in addition to perks earned last flight to also get a break down of the flight: What you shot down, who you shot down, what you blew up, hit percentages and how each one of those adds to your perks.  After a long sortie it's sometimes difficult to remember just what you did.

Making a log of everyones flight would quickly increase stresses on the servers as well as your AH file I think, how many sorties do you take up when you log on?   It's a lot of information to be saved and whatnot.

You could always choose to record every engagement but that'd take up even more space as it's a video.

There's been discussions in the past of a simple log to record this stuff. IIRC, it would be a pretty simple txt file or something of that nature. HTC already tracks all of this information anyway, and I would think it wouldn't be terribly difficult to dump a copy of that data from a particular sortie into a text file, much the way MOTDs, score info, balancing/arena numbers, etc are handled now.

But if you're making 100's of flights when you log on it starts to add up, not that txt files take up much space, but you'd have tons of them backlogged.  I can't even keep up with all the videos I've recorded.

I'm pretty sure that the servers already log everything you just noted, and then some.  Thus the scores > details ad nauseum on the website.

It would most likely be trivial to have a 'last flight stats' button that pulled these tiny bits of data up (seriously, it can't possibly be much data).  However, it would require modifying the FE, something that HT has said will not happen for a while.

I'm not talking about keeping track of ALL your flights; that's what your score is for.  I'm only suggesting a pop up window in the hangar with stats of your last flight in addition to perk points earned.  I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about how information is transfered through the game, but this couldn't add too much of a burden.

Just overwrite the file at the end of each mission.  No problem.

sluggish isnt asking for a career resume, just a brake down of the last sortie.  If AW could give you the names of the last 5 people you shot down, the last person that shot you down, and the points you got last sortie over a decade ago, then I don't see the data problems you guys are talking about.

Well, after going to your website, now I know that your squad emblem is NOT a flaming surfboard wearing sunglasses.
