"The Samarui the Mountie and the Cowboy"
It is a book written in '92 that studies the myths that socialist countries gun control laws in the U.S. would reduce crime and homicide here..
Very interesting and well documented and footnoted... it was written back when the homicide rate here was at allmost 10 per 100k and our crime rate was higher than say.... limeyland... and, it had some interesting predictions and conclusions. This was before the widespread concealed carry laws...
Anyway.. read the last chapter first. Some interesting points are suicide should be lumped in with homicide (both are deaths and failures of society).. that many of Americas homicides are self defense and that womens groups and others claim that fully 80% of females committing homicides are really self defense.. Also.. that 81% of all "good samaritans" that intervene in attacks by criminals on their fellow men are.... gun owners... that non gun owners tend to shirkl their responsibility because they feel that they have enpowered their government to take care of everyone so.... they are absolved from getting involved..
Interesting book with a lot of insight that has become fact 15 years later.
