I want to share with you some of my favorite Christmas traditions.

From "Let's Keep Christmas" by Peter Marshall:

The Timeless Message of Christmas
Changes are everywhere. Yet the message of Christmas
is unchanging. This message can neither be changed - nor
forgotten, although there are many distractions that tend
to make us forget. There is no need to search for stories
new and different. There is only one after all - and no
modern author can improve it...

Remember what Christmas means...
the beginning of Christianity...
the second chance for the world...
the hope for peace...and the only way.

The promise that the angels sang is the most wonderful music
the world has ever heard.

"Peace on earth and good will toward men."
It is a promise - God's promise - of what one day will come to pass.
There remains one way - The Way - the way of Him who was born
a babe in Bethlehem.
In a world that seems to be constantly changing, we want to hold
on to the old customs and traditions of Christmas because they
strengthen our family ties, bind us to our friends, make us one with
all mankind for whom the Christ Child was born, and bring us back
again to the God who gave His only begotten son, that... "whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
So we will not "spend" Christmas nor "observe" Christmas. We
will "keep" Christmas - keep it as it is in all the loveliness of its
ancient traditions. May we keep it in our hearts, that we may be
kept in its hope.

After reading the little devotional above, and listening to Paul Harvey, I'll sit back and watch three versions of "A Christmas Carol' one with Allister Sim, one with George C. Scott, and the comedy "Scrooged" with Bill Murray. I'll add "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and maybe "I want a dog for Christmas Charlie Brown".

May this Christmas find you doing whatever you love to do at Christmas, and maybe you'll find something to enjoy in what I do at Christmas.

It is the spirit that I hold so dear. From Scrooge's redemption to Linus' reading of the story, from Peter Marshall's sermon to Paul harvey's recitation of the man and the birds, it is what what brings true joy to me, regardless of how times are, lean or rich, good times or bad.

the wife and I watch "It's a Wonderful Life" every year & enjoy it anew each time we do

I'm finishing Scrooge with Allistair Sim right now. We've done our part to help Santa Clause (yes, he IS real, he lives within all who would keep the spirit of Christmas) and I'm off to bed after that.

I'll be off to my mother-in-law's in the morning, and then off to Mom's Monday afternoon. Not coming back to work until Wednesday, and working half a day, plus Thursday and Friday. Then I'm off till Tuesday.

I was thinking a little while ago about how I miss the old Bob Hope Christmas specials, and that sort of thing, like Red Skelton. I burned a copy of Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing "Little Drummer Boy".

This is the first Christmas after Dad has gone, even though he was so sick he barely knew any of us for the last couple of years, I miss him more than I thought I would.

My brother had 4 vertabrae fused a couple of weeks ago, and is having a hard time doing much. He's real disappointed that we can't put up the train set like he planned.

No, this Christmas is not perfect, but it is Christmas, and I do so love the season. I've seen Scrooge redeemed once again, and as there is hope for a man, there is hope for mankind.
