Either the IX and the VIII .303 ports are too close together, or the V .303 gun ports are too far apart.
As far as I'm aware the position of the 2x outer pair of .303's in the A, B and C wings were the same.
On all three (V, VIII, IX) the outer .303's are all in the same postition.
On the VIII and IX the inner .303 is in one common position, on the V it is a lot further inboard.
Download the skins and superimpose them, it's clearly evident.
I think if you number the .303's on an A wing from the outside in as 1,2,3 and 4, on the VIII and IX it uses 1 and 2, on the V it's 1 and 3. I believe the V should also be 1 and 2.
Also the V seems to have the upper cowling bulges that were only needed on later Merlins and Griffons.
