Somethings up with the Spit models

Either the IX and the VIII .303 ports are too close together, or the V .303 gun ports are too far apart.

As far as I'm aware the position of the 2x outer pair of .303's in the A, B and C wings were the same.

On all three (V, VIII, IX) the outer .303's are all in the same postition.
On the VIII and IX the inner .303 is in one common position, on the V it is a lot further inboard.

Download the skins and superimpose them, it's clearly evident.

I think if you number the .303's on an A wing from the outside in as 1,2,3 and 4, on the VIII and IX it uses 1 and 2, on the V it's 1 and 3. I believe the V should also be 1 and 2.

Also the V seems to have the upper cowling bulges that were only needed on later Merlins and Griffons.

You're right about the .303 positions - they should all use the 1 & 2 positions as you described.

I don't know about the cowlings though - looking at photos the 2-stage Merlin marques seem to have slightly different shape cowlings, but there isn't much difference, and the Griffon models have much more obvious bulges.

Position of the outboard 303s were different on the Vb then the Universal wing of the Vc, VIII, IX

Here's the diagram from the Spit V manual showing the Vb and Vc wing.  The Vb clearly had the outboard 303s wider apart.

Agreed on the nose of the V in AH.  Just looks off.  Too box like and the prop spinner seems too small.
