Possibly just dump them to the desktop if the connection falls below a set standard but let them back in. Getting continuously dumped out of the game may discourage the "cable jerkers" and encourage others with real connection issues to take action to correct it.

If their ISP is so bad they are warping non-stop, they need to contact their ISP and get it fixed. If they are a genuine victim of their ISP and not a deliberate connection manipulator they are likely not having very much fun playing in a sea of warpage anyways. Making the rest of HTC's customers suffer because of a few people's bad connects is not fair or good business. The good of the many out-weigh the good of the few or the one (Star Trek quote).

Most, if not all real-time multi-player action games have minimum connection standards...AH is actually the only real-time game I can think of that allows people with really bad connections to continue to play and degrade the quality of experience for the other 499 customers online. It would  not be very hard for HTC to tell whether someone's connection is funked up as a result of an ISP/router problem or as a result of end-user manipulation (ie: random vs. non-random connection anomolies)...

I seem to recall that HTC will not put up with people accusing someone of cheating. I think we are supposed to send them film of suspect behavior & they will take whatever steps they feel are necessary to get to the bottom of the situation.  :huh

Someone put a link to the program you need to decompress the file before you view it. It's just like Winzip but a little better.

He turns off his modem when hes about to be shot down... A guy did it to him once and firehawk recorded and sent it in... the guy is now suspended for 2 weeks for doin it. FireHwks IP adress needs to be banned. Im not goin to realese this guys name because im not goin to embarres him. He said tht skuzzy is tryin to figure out a way to were if you turn off modem you will lose connection instantly. Hes a cheater and that is BS for having a Fast connection and he has "connection problems" almost every night, and it so happens the problems show up when your about to shoot him and they disappear when you get off his 6. I think that is enough proof to get him kicked. There is probably over 100 videos of him "having connection problems" to safely say he does this. BTW firehwk told me himself he does turn off his modem but i didnt record conversation :(
AND also if he has sooo much problems with his connection to where he "cant play" why would he be payin for his crappy connection and the game is he cant"hardley play".

Glad i got that out of my system

Okay, granted, FireHwk acts like a sweetheartbag, and it certainly looks like he's up to something, but that's still no reason to cause a pursefight on here. There are a relatively few people who abuse their connections, and or attempt to do so, to exploit the game. When you stumble across such folks, simply film it and send it in. The more you see, the more you should send in. The more of a fuss you create in here(the forums), the more likely they are to learn of this, and modify their behavior, and the more difficult it becomes for HTC to figure out exactly what is happening, and when, if anything is being intentionally manipulated.

The game doesn't need sweetheartbags, nor does it need them to be forewarned when such things are discovered.

Hub calling someone a sweetheartbag :rofl  But seriously that was a pretty fishy video. The part I liked the best was the view from the man in question. On another note I was talking to a friend of mine about this and he thought that maybe FireHwk has a second computer going and just happened to upload a rather large file to an ftp server thus causing a temporary connection issue. So upload a large file lose a few packets, fly through the ground and reconnect at 19k. Easy mistake. :aok

I agree to some extent we shouldn't be chit-chatting idly about stuff like this as we would kind of be telling the 'theives how to steal' . But, on the other hand, it takes very few people doing this to ruin the fun for many others. There has to be some form of accountability to the community. People have to know they will be called on this sort of behavior, publicly.

Honestly, from my point of view, I could care less whether the person's connection sucks incidentally or by intent. I pay $50 a month for a very good connection so I can  enjoy a very good game I pay an additional $15 a month for. I take exception to a few broke folks, satellite users, or connection manipulators effectively wasting MY MONEY I spent to have a high quality gaming experience simply due to the fact their connection sucks, for whatever reason.

I am a firm advocate of HTC implimenting some sort of un-compromising minimum standard and persistant integrity check for connections. If you fall below the minimum standard, you are booted, plain and simple. This game is not like most other real-time internet games, this game has a much higher percentage of adults, fidelity to realism is of much higher importance, and a fairly significant financial investment is required by the individual for the equipment and connect required to play the game to its full potential. It is unfair to those people who make that investment to have it shat upon by those who either choose not to make the investment required, for whatever reason, or choose to maliciously manipulate their connectivity to their advantage.

I know this sounds cold-hearted but, if you live in Antarctica, can only play by satelite and your average ping time and packet loss makes you warp like the starship Enterprise, this is not the game for you. You will not waste my money forcing my sense of realism down the preverbial toilet because your connection blows camel farts.

Please HTC impliment a minimum connection fidelity standard and enforce it automatically...This and only this will quickly, easily and permanently solve the problems.

Any joke we have ever played at others expense never affected gameplay or bordered on cheating in the game.  If you can't see the difference, it's not our fault.

What's funny is his numbers suck. If he has a "wonder hack" you would think his scores would be a bit better.

It appears about all he can do is spawncamp in a Tiger and kill GVs with an IL2 which any moron can do even without a cheat.

Sent film in of this guy porking a field in a 110 doing the same stuff. By the time I killed him the field was trashed.

That's a really poor analogy, Sniper.  This isn't about creating an uproar, it's about catching cheaters.  Hub's point is that posting this kind of stuff makes finding cheaters and eliminating them more difficult in the future, so players should send evidence of cheating quietly to HTC rather than posting it for all to see.

How you get from that to the horribly overused "pot and kettle" statement baffles me.

ROTFLMFAO.

I saw him in a zeek a few months back. That was the last time I ever came into contact with him, knowing it was him. He would pop up on the runway, disapear, then two minutes later you'd hear someone on range vox going "What the **** just shot me down!??!?!" I have it on film but never thought to go back and rename it so I could find it again. So its a needle in a haystack now.
