An interesting period of history. I wonder if Kennedy ordered it or even knew about it.

Intelligence agencies - slimy, underhand types. Although the only thing MI6 seems to be good at these days, is leaving briefcases/laptops full of top secret documents in public places. Oh, and producing people who sign the Official Secrets Act and then one day write a book about their work like the slimy, underhand people they are.

Kennedy knew about it. Certainly gave the green light for it then called off the air cover. Why he decided not to follow through is anyone's guess. If he wasn't serious he should have called it off before it gat started.
